There have been a lot of rumours circulating lately that Fallons pub in The Coombe has been sold or was closing down. We can confirm that the pub and building has indeed been sold, but we don’t know who bought it or what the plans are for it.

The pub was listed on the website of property firm CBRE, and is now listed as sold. Link.

Their description of the property-

Fallon’s is a three storey red brick fronted traditional style licensed premises which dates back to 1911 and is presented in its original form with many original features intact. The accommodation comprises ground floor bar with porch entrance, mahogany bar and back bar, snug and feature wood burning stove. In addition there are customer toilets along with a keg and bottle storage area. The upper two floors contain the former residential accommodation which are in need of capital expenditure.

The pub was in receivership and was sold under their instructions.

We had heard rumours last year that somebody was planning on buying it, but we’ll wait for confirmation before saying anything. The building dates back to 1911, so I think it’s safe to say there won’t be too much change and it will remain a pub.

We do hope that the pub is kept as close to its current state as possible, as it really is a fantastic pub and one of our favourites. We also hope that the bar staff will be kept on or are suitably compensated.

Thanks for the memories and the great pints.
