Whether you’re a Tolkien fan, or a Hobbitual drinker, this is good news for you. Just don’t get Legolas. How we didn’t know that there was a Lord of the Rings themed bar in Ireland I’ll never know.
The Shire in Killarney opened in 2014 and is a very very unique spot. You enter through a hobbit hole where you then see the bar, which is called ‘The Inn of the Prancing Pony’. You will then be lead through an archway leading into Mordor, and then through another hobbit hole archway to the ‘Middle Earth’ party room.
The staff are dressed as hobbits and offer you a selection of LOTR themed beers, including Frodos lager, Bilbos beer, Barlimans best, and Gandalfs Ale. They also have an in-house cocktail called ‘Hobbit Juice’.
Unruly customer
Here’s a quest for you. Bring a pint glass to an engravers in Dublin, get them to put a golden ring around the top of it. Then set out with a fellowship of friends and walk to Killarney, go into the ‘The Shire pub’, have a scoop, and your journey is complete.
