New Years eve every year proves to be a bit of a quandary to many people. You want to go out, but you don’t want to get caught in a scrum, and you want to be in a comfortable space with friends. Some places have ticketed events that you might want to go to, but you’re not sure that all your friends will be there.
So, why not book out a function room for free and invite all your mates? Have a guaranteed night out with your friends at no extra cost to your night. Book the room, set up a facebook group, and off you go. Night sorted.
Obviously we don’t have access to all the bookings taken by the pubs of Dublin, but we do know of 3 bars whose function rooms are available on New Years eve.
The upstairs function room in Toners is free on the night and can hold up to 40 people. You get your own barman upstairs beside the room, so there’s no trekking downstairs for scoops. What better way to ring in the new year than in one of Dublin’s most iconic pubs? You can get yourself some food platters too if your order them in advance. If you want to have a bigger party, the Waterloo function room can cater for up to 120 people. This might be a good option if you want to go down the route of cocktails, craft beer, and a bit of bubbly. They have a full kitchen to provide party platters. The room also has access to a outdoor terrace area. There’s a refundable deposit for this room. email@example.com 01-6600650. Facebook.
The 51 bar
The 51 bar on Haddington road is synonymous with match days at the Aviva, but they also have a large function room that holds up to 100 people. They’ve got a good selection of beers for €4.50, shots for €4.00 and they have a full kitchen to provide platters for your group. firstname.lastname@example.org / 01-6600150
