There’s a new bar at the Dame street end of Georges street where Shebeen Chic used to be. The site has been unused for a while, so it’s great news to see a new bar on site.
It’s named J.T. Pims after the brothers of the same name who owned a department store across the road, which closed in the 1970s.
As with every new venture such as this, there’s a bit of a soft launch for the first few weeks, so we’ll let them get on their feet before we go in and have a look around.
Cocktails seem to be the order of the day in here. Georges street and beyond must surely now be designated the cocktail capital of Dublin with J.T. Pims, Chelsea Drugstore, Market Bar, The Jar, and Bow Lane Social.

In terms of craft beers, they have the local 5 Lamps Lager, Maggie’s Leap, Lagunitas, and Sierra Nevada.
They’ve got a dedicated gin and rum bar, which should prove interesting. There appears to have been a swing back to gin in the last year or so. If you’re a gin lover you’ll have the opportunity to sample some hard to find gins or let the bartender whip up a presumably delicious offering.
They’re describing the place as “a brand new bar with a traditional heart”.
