It might not be the best known film on these shores, but ‘Quackser Fortune has a cousin in the Bronx’ does feature some of Dublin’s best known areas. These include St. Patricks cathedral and the lovely Gravediggers pub in Glasnevin.
This clip from the film shows Gene Wilder (Quackser) and Margot Kidder having a pint in the pub while also being interviewed by the locals. Wilder is probably best known for playing Willy Wonka, and Margot Kidder was the original movie Lois Lane.
We’ve watched a few scenes from the movie and it is fun to watch, if only for the Irish accents, and to see how Dublin looked in 1969/1970.
