20 covered and warm beer gardens for Winter

If you’re a smoker or just enjoy being outside at all points of the year, then this list of covered beer gardens might be handy for winter or when the weather gets topsy turvy at other times. Most of them are well heated, some of them have blankets, and all of them are well covered.

Camden Exchange

Camden Exchange on Wexford Street has a really cool area at the back of the bar. It’s a really good spot for premium spirits and beers, as well as food. It’s very well covered out the back, so you’re well protected.

Toners

Toner’s beer garden is fantastic during any month of the year. There’s open areas during the summer, and heated areas to the side and at the back for Winter time. They even have USB charging ports in the garden!

O’Shea’s

O’Shea’s new covered area is a really welcome addition to an already fantastic pub. Part of it is designed like an old grocer pub, with appropriate furniture, and even a functioning post box. At the other end of the garden they have some seating from the old Croke Park.

The Long Stone

The Long Stone beer garden is at this stage nearly completely covered. The heaters are on all the time, so you’ll be well snug out here. There’s 2 pool tables and lots of TV’s, so you can keep yourself entertained.

Step through the window from the bar and you’re into the completely covered Bison garden area. There’s ample seating and even some themed saddle seats. Enjoy your Bison BBQ out here.

Murray’s

Murray’s have a very good covered space at the back. Plenty of roasting heaters overhead. A good place for sports.

Living Room

The Living Room has a really big beer garden and a large portion of it is covered. They also have a bar and a shisha hut.

Fibber Magee’s

All of the Fibber’s garden is covered and they have a pool table out there. Their bar out there is in the form of a Volkswagen van.

O’Donoghue’s

The lane between both sides of O’Donoghue’s pub on Merrion row is covered and turned into a smoking area. There’s barrels to stand at and sit around, and there’s even the odd trad session out here.

Wigwam

The retractable roof will be closed for the winter in Wigwam on Abbey street, providing plenty of cover and warmth. Enjoy a stacked toastie and craft beer up here.

Blackbird

The Blackbird beer garden is quite large and nearly all covered. They’ve got picnic tables and eclectic furniture out here. What else would you expect from the guys that run here, P Macs, and Cassidy’s?

The Cobblestone

You just have to dash a few yards from the back door of the Cobblestone underneath the canopy in the beer garden. It’s a tin roof, so you’ve got the steady sound of the rattle of rain during the winter. You can still hear the trad music piping through the pub into the outdoors.

The Grand Social

There’s always a great atmosphere in the covered beer garden upstairs in The Grand Social. They even sometimes have a DJ playing. They’ve rejigged the seating recently, making it easier to find a chair.

McGrattans

There’s 2 smoking areas in McGrattan’s towards the back. One of them is super comfy and has a fireplace, lounging seats, and even some blankets to keep you toasty.

No Name Bar

The No Name beer garden is popular all year round. It’s usually quite warm, both from the heaters on the wall and the body heat from the crowds that flock there.

The Hairy Lemon

They’ve done a very good job turning a space that could have been very ugly into somewhere actually pleasant to sit. They have some TV’s out here if you want to watch a match.

Kavanagh’s

We recently discovered the excellent beer garden in Kavanagh’s on Aughrim street. There’s high stools and tables in one area, and some snuggly couches in the other. They supply the blankets to snuggle up to.

Bruxelles

The front of Bruxelles is a great spot to sit under a heater, maybe get a bowl of mussels, and watch Grafton Street go by.
