An inventive solution to charging your phone in a pub

Most pubs are very happy to put your phone behind the bar where it’s safe and to give it a bit of a charge. Some have boxes on the wall where you can pay to safely deposit them for a quick charge. Some have gone even further and installed usb ports in the pub (The bankers, Toners, Lemon and Duke).

We found another solution that works very well, and doesn’t involve having to carry wires with you, or to part with your phone.

Mulligan’s on Poolbeg Street have a station full of portable power banks with wires for iphone and other phones built into them. All you have to do is pay a €20 deposit for the power bank, and use it in the pub until your phone is fully charged. When you’re finished, you just hand it back and get your €20 returned.

It’s a fairly simple way of allowing people to charge up their phone without letting it out of their hands.

All of the above options fulfill a purpose, but we thought that this is the best option we’ve come across. As long as you have €20 cash for the deposit of course.
