A voucher for a pub if a fine gift, and one that would be welcomed by nearly everybody. But, here’s another idea that is that bit more special and personal. How about getting someone a bottle of whiskey and their own personal locker in a pub?
Let’s say you want to get a gift for your friend who is getting married or someone who is celebrating a significant event. How about you buy them the gift of a drink any time they want it. You could use it as a way to meet up and share a drink on special occasions or make a deal that you’ll meet up once a month until the bottle is gone.
It could be good for businesses who want to impress clients who are in town. How cool would it be to bring people into a pub only to have to ask for glasses, to produce a key for your locker and to take your favourite seat?
We know of two pubs in Dublin that are offering this service. Devitt’s on Camden Street have an exceptionally designed new look to the place. At the back they have some beautiful leather couches and booths. Above them are whiskey decanters turned into lights, illuminating a series of private whiskey lockers. Link.
Sheehan’s pub on Chatham Street is a charmingly traditional family run pub with a dedicated whiskey bar upstairs. They also provide the option to keep your own bottle on site in a locker. Link.
The whiskey is of course up to you. Obviously a finer whiskey probably seems like it belongs more in a setting like this, and gives it more of a sense of ceremony.
For old friends who need to find an occasion to meet, or for a groom looking for a gift for his best man, then this could be an excellent and thoughtful gift.
