We’ve long been calling for pubs to make more use of the versatile and tasty spud. Some pubs that don’t have the capacity to offer a full menu sometimes opt to specialise in pizza or sandwiches. One new pub has opted to trial something different.

The Piper’s Corner on Marlborough Street is a recently opened pub that is testing out just how much Irish pub goers would enjoy a spud on a night out.

They’ve teamed up with Danny Mulligan’s Potato Cake company to offer a pop up offering of Irish Potato Cakes to satisfy any hunger drinkers in the pub might have. We think it’s a great option to give people, and it’s one we haven’t really seen in any other pub.

Credit where credit is due: MVP have been offering spud boxes for a while now that include a baked potato topped in a variety of ways.

Piper’s Corner is making a name for itself as a great Northside spot for a bit of trad music any day of the week. Now they’re a decent spot to go for a few spuds!
