A traditional pub for a Christmas party: Doheny and Nesbitts

Prominently jutting out onto Baggot Street with a wooden facade is the famous pub Doheny and Nesbitt, named after its former proprietors. It’s one of the 16 remaining Victorian era pubs of Dublin and it retains all the character that it is so well loved and well known for.

How about then, renting an area of this fine pub for a very traditionally Dublin Christmas party? If you’re only familiar with original Victorian front bar and the back bar, then there’s much more of this pub that you don’t know about. Downstairs is a private room with a bar of its own. It’s very similar in design to the main floor of the bar and has a great atmosphere. It’s mostly standing room here, but we reckon you could fit 40 people in handily enough.

On the 1st floor there are 3 adjoining rooms that can be booked separately for smaller functions or all together for larger get-togethers. Doheny and Nesbitts have a full kitchen, so catering finger food for group bookings is no problem at all. This area is reminiscent of Davy Byrne’s on Duke Street. It’s a very plush space with lots of tables, seating, and even a fireplace for extra character.

On the second floor is another function room, again similar to the downstairs. They have a full private bar, a good bit more seating, and the room is lit up by the dangling Christmas decorations on the outside of the pub.

It’s central, it’s iconic, and it’s a beautiful pub. Just a few of the reasons why you might consider booking here for a Christmas party.
