We recently got a private message through our facebook page from Crystal Claire asking us to help date a cocktail menu from one of the Jurys hotels in town. We said that we had no idea when it might date from but we’d create an article on it and hopefully someone more knowledgeable might be able to tell us more.
Crystal’s dad found the old menu behind a mirror in their house, so it must have been sitting there for quite a while before being discovered.
Some of the cocktails on the list include a ‘Monkey Gland’, a Glad Eyes’, a ‘Maiden’s Blush’, and a ‘Sherry Gobbler’. Crystal points out that the menu must predate 1971 when decimilisation came in.
