
As the world moves towards reducing the amount of plastic that we create, use, and then throw away, reusable water bottles have come into fashion as a means for cutting down on waste. Most people fill up their bottles from the tap at home before heading out, but some people still want either filtered still or sparkling water to drink without the plastic. One pub has the solution.
57 The Headline are now offering refills of filtered water or sparkling from the bar. They charge 50 cent for the half litre for you to pick up and it take away. It’s a good way of satisfying those who still want a better quality of water and gives them a means of getting it without having to add more waste to the world.
Recently we’ve been reflecting on our own waste consumption and that in businesses we use and it has to be said that pubs are one of the least wasteful businesses out there when it comes to the containers they use, the quality of food and how much use they get out of glasses, plates, and other reusable containers. With the reduction of the use of plastic straws, pubs are very nearly plastic free for the most part.
