Porterhouse Temple Bar

Porterhouse Temple Bar

The Porterhouse in Temple Bar opened in 1996 as Dublin’s first pub brewery. Ireland then (and now, arguably) was a beer desert and being the cheeky chappies that we are, we managed to gain maximum publicity by naming a beer Weiserbuddy (you’d be a wiser buddy to drink this beer) and probably the best lager in the world. This created much amusement and threatened litigation from some of the biggest players in the drinks industry. Indeed amongst the publican fraternity, bets were taken as to how long a bar could last without mainstream beers. Well all these years later we are still producing some of the best beers you will ever put to your lips. There is a realisation that not everyone wants the mainstream.
