2016 marks the 250th anniversary of The Long Hall pub on George’s street. Let that sink in. This pub has been open for a quarter or a millenium!
They’ve got lots of celebrations planned for the second half of the year to mark this extraordinary feat. They’re keenly interested in the history of the pub, and finding something new is always a bonus.
The pub has launched a competition online to try to find old photos of the pub. Old photos that predate the advent of camera phones. They’re looking for either an exterior or interior shot of the pub that “just sums up perfectly the atmosphere and feel of the place.”
They’re encouraging people to submit their photo with the lure of a €250 cash prize for the photo deemed the best. I’m sure they would be really pleased to have a photographic record from any era of the bar. So, get checking through that old sock drawer or shoe box for some old snaps and put them to good use.
You can send photos to their facebook page, by Email to thelonghallpub@eircom.net or post them a copy to The Long Hall Pub, 51 South Great Georges St Dublin 2.
The closing date is Friday, August 12th.
