‘Tod Hunter Pyms’ on Fade street is scheduled to open some time in march after renovations have been completed. The bar owned and operated by the same group that brought you The Market bar and the new Chelsea Drugstore.
The building was formerly a tanning centre and is located to the left of the grand entrance to the Market bar.
The bar is named after Joseph Tod Hunter Pym, a local businessman who owned a huge department store on Georges street that was demolished in 1972. Pym appears to have been quite a character and a man of varied interests and talents. The bar’s facebook page is doing an excellent job of telling the history of Pym and his exploits. Link.
The bar has had advertisements for mixologists and people with an interest in and passion for beer and wine, so it’s likely to offer a lot of the elements that people seem very receptive to in The Market bar and Chelsea Drugstore.
We’ll soon have updates with new info as it emerges.
