Cinco de Mayo, while formally celebrating a Mexican military victory, is largely a celebration of Mexican culture. In 2011 there were only around 1,500 Mexicans living in Ireland, but Mexican influence can be seen everywhere, especially when it comes to cuisine.

Here’s a few pubs in Dublin that are putting on something special for the day.

Adelphi

Adelphi on Abbey Street will be offering €5 mojito cocktails and bottles of corona will be €3 all day.

Xico

Xico on Baggot Street takes it’s name from the last 4 letters of Mexico, so it follows that they’ll be celebrating in a big way. There’s €5 frozen margharitas, and live music from 10pm.

Sams

Sams Bar on Dawson Street have made a new addition to their cocktail menu, specially for the day. It’s called ‘the Spiked Margharita’. You can watch how they make it above.

Whitworth

The Whitworth in Glasnevin are offering 2 nachos and 4 corona for €30, and margharita’s are 2 for €10.
