There’s a great reverence in Irish singing pubs and pubs with traditional music for the form of singing known as Sean Nós. The whole pub goes quiet out of respect for the unaccompanied singer and the song their singing.
There is now an opportunity to learn the ‘old style’ of singing in a pub. Upstairs in Arthurs pub on Thomas Street there will soon be starting a course in the Sean Nós style on Monday nights.
While the idea of a Sean Nós that we may hold in our heads is of a person in their 70’s, it is very much a multi generational pursuit, and there is presumably enough multi generational interest in it to justify a course of this kind.
