Whelan’s on Wexford Street has been one of the premier small music venues in Dublin for over 20 years now. They recently had a big celebration of 25 years as a music venue.
Over the years they’ve had some really big acts play here, including quite recently, Ed Sheeran, as part of an MTV broadcast event.
This month 23 years ago Jeff Buckley graced the stage of Whelan’s. They still have a copy of the poster for the listings for the entire month and posted it on their facebook page yesterday. Link.
Other notable names on the list that went on to larger stardom were The Corrs.
