The Pav is moving to cut down on their plastic usage

We reported last week that more and more pubs are deciding to either ditch the plastic straw or replace it with a biodegradable one. Now The Pavillion Bar in Trinity are taking a huge step in reducing the amount of plastic they use.

Sunny days in Dublin mean flocks of students and non-students alike coming to the Pav to bask in the sunshine and to have a pint outside. People usually either buy cans of beer or get a pint in a plastic cup.

The bar are now introducing a €1 deposit system for cups to cut down on the amount of plastic used. You just pay €1 extra when you get your first pint and get it back when you bring it back. Very simple!

There is a launch night for the initiative on February 15th organised by TCD Plastic Solutions. Facebook Event.

They’ll be using hard plastic reusable cups. All going well in The Pav, it might be a system easily replicated at other university bars, festivals, and sporting events.
