A lot of pubs will be confronted with the prospect of having to set up a booking system for the foreseeable future. It’s still unclear as to what the long term plans and guidelines are for pubs but it looks quite certain that those opening on the 29th of June will have to have pre-booking for guests. The old writing names, tables, and times in a ledger is still in use, but some might be looking to make the move to a more all-inclusive system that facilitates the taking of bookings, as well as contactless table service and payment.
Guinness in Ireland has partnered up with a company called ‘AnyExcuse’ to offer the service free to pubs that need it on the island of Ireland for free for 6 months. It seems like a good option for pubs who are wondering how to manage bookings when they haven’t had to deal with them before. Given that it’s backed by Guinness, that might inspire more confidence among pubs to rely on the service for their new needs.
The service is not just for simple bookings and can help with the following;
- Table Bookings, customers can book and check availability in licensed venues
- Contactless Table Service, customers can order and pay for food and drinks from their device while seated at their table
- Click and Collect Service, customers can order online and collect from the outlet
Offering a click and collect service within the service must be a big plus for pubs who haven’t in the past been set up as a takeaway service.
